Telangana Echo In Darjeeling Hills

It is well understood that the Telangana agitation is an inspiration for similar movements in other parts of India. The 26-day bandh called by the Gorkha Janamukti Morcha (GJM) in the Darjeeling district is an ongoing case in point. The announced aim is to force the central government to ‘clarify’ its position on the demand for a Gorkhaland State in the wake of the Srikrishna Committee’s report on the future of Telangana.

Livestock Development : A Case Study Of Sheep & Goat Development Programmes In Mahabubnaga District – Joint Director (AH), Mahabubnagar

INTRODUCTION :

Mahabubnagar District is endowed with rich livestock resources and the district ranks first in the State with 41.64 lakh Sheep and 6.85 lakh Goat population. Nearly 70,000 Shepherd families are dependent on sheep rearing for their livelihood.
Deccani and Nellore are the predominant sheep breeds in the district and slowly the Nellore breed is increasing in numbers. Keeping in view of problems in wool shearing in Deccani Sheep and increased growth rate / early weight gains in Nellore Sheep, the Sheep rearers are showing interest in introduction of Nellore Rams into their flocks and shifting towards converting their flocks into Nellore breed.
Mostly the Extensive system (range method) of sheep rearing is followed in the district and more than 40% of the sheep flocks migrate out of the district to adjacent districts every year during Dec – January in search of grazing. The flocks will return back to the district during July – August.
Due to illiteracy, superstitions coupled with ignorance, most of the shepherds are not following the scientific methods of rearing thus encountering disease outbreaks resulting in production losses.

Full Text of Srikrishna Committee Report

The Srikrishna Report on Telangana has been presented to political parties from Andhra Pradesh. The report places before the government several options rather than recommendations.
The two-volume 461-page report of the five-member committee headed by former Supreme Court judge that gave its recommendations after about 11 months of consultation process in the state was released by the home ministry.
The massive Srikrishna Report lays out different options for the union government for how to handle the three parts of the state: Coastal Andhra, Telangana and Rayalaseema.

‘Congress will be buried in Telangana’

HYDERABAD: Stating that the report of the Srikrishna committee has spread ‘confusion, chaos and unnecessary complications’ on state’s bifurcation issue, the members of the Telangana Congress Monitoring Group (TCMG) today felt that their party would be buried in the Telangana region if the Centre fails to deliver T State. It appears that the report was written by the Seemandhra leaders since the committee’s member-secretary VK Duggal, who was ‘against’ Telangana, had met Seemandhra MPs T Subbirami Reddy and Kavuri Sambasiva Rao several times, they remarked.

They passed a resolution urging Congress president Sonia Gandhi to be ‘decisive and swift’ so as to save Congress and ensure peace in Telangana.

TRS, other Telangana groups reject Srikrishna Committee report

HYDERABAD/NEW DELHI: TRS and other political leaders from Telangana cutting across the spectrum today rejected the Justice Srikrishna Committee report on the contentious statehood issue saying it "failed to come up with a clear solution".

Students agitating for the separate state hit the streets and set a bus on fire in Osmania University campus, the hotbed of Telangana movement, and clashed with security personnel who hit back by exploding teargas shells.

The students' joint action committee has called a Telangana bandh tomorrow in protest against the report.

Telangana Rashtra Samiti chief K Chandrasekhar Rao, spearheading the Telangana statehood agitation, said "we are rejecting the options suggested by the Srikrishna Committee.

"We want nothing but a Telangana state that existed prior to November 1, 1956. The creation of an exclusive development board for the region, as suggested by the Committee and conversion of Hyderabad into a Union Territory are totally unacceptable for us," he said.

"We cannot lose our right on Hyderabad," the TRS chief said.

Key points of Justice Srikrishna Committee's report on the demand of statehood for Telangana

The Srikrishna report, made public on Thursday morning, failed to decide the fate of Telangana state in clear terms. The report seemed to be leaning towards a United Andhra and has listed out six options to satisfy the various warring factions within Andhra Pradesh.

Srikrishna Committee comes out with 6 options

NEW DELHI: The Justice Srikrishna Committee, which held wide consultations in the last 11 months on demands for a separate State of Telangana as well as for keeping Andhra Pradesh united, has offered half-a-dozen options on which the government may take a call in about six weeks.
Well placed sources here said on Wednesday that the Central government would like to take a decision on the options given by the five-member panel, most probably before the budget session of Parliament that begins in February third week.
The committee, headed by the former Supreme Court judge, Justice B.N. Srikrishna, is believed not to have equivocally recommended any particular option but gave views — with the pros and cons along with the historical background — in each of the six options.
